- Hi all! I'm having problems pinging my A4000 from my Pentium running
- Windows 95. When I ping my A4000, I get timeout messages, but when I
- ping my PC from my A4000 I get these:
-
- 7.Ram Disk:> ping sega_cd
- PING SEGA_CD.ronquillo.ca (191.103.233.2): 56 data bytes
- 64 bytes from 191.103.233.1: icmp_seq=0 ttl=255 time=2 ms
- 64 bytes from 191.103.233.1: icmp_seq=1 ttl=255 time=2 ms
- 64 bytes from 191.103.233.1: icmp_seq=2 ttl=255 time=2 ms
- 64 bytes from 191.103.233.1: icmp_seq=3 ttl=255 time=2 ms
- 64 bytes from 191.103.233.1: icmp_seq=4 ttl=255 time=2 ms
-
- --- SEGA_CD.ronquillo.ca ping statistics ---
- 5 packets transmitted, 5 packets received, 0% packet loss
- round-trip min/avg/max = 2/2/2 ms
-
-
- SEGA_CD (191.103.233.2) is the hostname of my PC and A4000
- (191.103.233.1) is my A4000. What looks a little peculiar is the ping
- to SEGA_CD:
-
- 64 bytes from 191.103.233.1: icmp_seq=0 ttl=255 time=2 ms
- ^
- A4000's host number
-
- Shouldn't it be:
-
- 64 bytes from 191.103.233.2: icmp_seq=0 ttl=255 time=2 ms
- ^
- SEGA_CD's host number
- instead?
-
-
- Another thing is that I'm able to get the ping messages when pinging my
- PC while it's turned off!
-
- My setup is an A4000 w/040 25MHz, 540MB & 120MB HD, 16 MEG FAST RAM, Golden
- Gate Bus, an NE2000 compatible ethernet card, coaxial cable, T connector and
- terminator, and AmiTCP 4.2. The PC consists of Pentium 100MHz,
- 1.08GIG EIDE, 8MEG RAM, NE2000 compatible ethernet card, T connector and
- terminator, and Windows 95, using Microsoft's TCP/IP stack.
-
-
- If anyone with a working network like mine, and who has experienced these
- problems, please post a reply, or email me at edwardr@io.org. Your help
- is greatly appreciated.
